Justin’s Review

Ironically named, Old is one of the oldest Australian beers, dating back to 1869, cirtainly one of the oldest on the east coast. Adding to this, Old is increasingly considered an old mans drink as young people are trending towards bright, colourful, sweet drinks… which old is certainly not. While the young or unadventurous types might fear an overpowering, bitter, burnt beer, Old certainly is not that either.

Tooheys Old has a robust malty flavour balanced by a fruity hoppiness and a moderate bitterness. Brewed following the German Alt style of beer it is best enjoyed with a strong flavoured meal like a rich BBQ sauc, gamey meats or strong cheese.
